My father, sister and I had great luck fishing for coho salmon near Taconite Harbor.  Three days earlier we had 60 deg water temperature but during this video the water was 39 degrees and the salmon were abundant.  I always thought the colder water as a negative but it definitely improved the salmon fishing on this day.  Fish were caught from the surface down to 90 feet.  Pink and purple spoons were hot!

Check out the action we had fishing out of Little Marais, MN the week before Labor Day!  All our fish were caught between 30 and 80 feet.  The coho salmon were at 30 feet and the lakers and chinook were at 80 feet.

I trolled with a buddy that was visiting from the twin cities. We fished out of Two Harbors on Saturday and Sunday morning. Didn't stay too long, my buddy was more interested in going to the brewery. Saturday we didn't get anything. I texted a buddy that was fishing out of Knife River. They were catching fish in 30' to 40' of water. Sunday, I worked that depth range, we got two lakers almost immediately. Both came off a black & white glow in the dark spoon set at 42'. One was only 13", but the other fish was a nice healthy 24.5". That was everything, it went quite after that. Both fish came from in front of the harbor over 200 to 230'.

Sunday 8/9/15... Fished out of Two Harbors from 7 am until about 2 pm. Trolled south to Knife river and back. Marked most fish over 120 feet of water. Many fish marked at 15 to 40 feet down and near the bottom at about 80 to 100 feet down. Water temps averaged about 48 degrees but found a few strips of 55 degree water, mostly south by the knife. We've got no riggers yet so we ran two dipsys of the back corners shallow and two pink lady's of the back down deep. Tried a variety of dodgers with spoons and flasher Flys. No takers for our boat last weekend but did see two cohos get caught near by and some folks had a nice mix of trout, cohos and Kings back at the launch. Let's keep the thread running now that the late summer salmon/trout fishing should pick up!

Since I did not see a thread for Lake Superior on the North shore, I figured that I would start one.

Yesterday, I fished out of McQuade. I caught one nice 4# coho on the downrigger set at 18'. I was in about 284' of water and the surface temp was 48°. I fished my way back to the harbor and picked up 2 lakers off a downrigger set at 12'. My boat was bouncing around too much, I had to use the riggers, because my rapala's were pulling out of the water with the big waves.

This morning. I went back to the same spot, didn't catch anything trolling. The Coho were hitting the surface, so I dropped my electric motor and casted at them with a mepps spinner. I caught 3 and missed 3.

I hope you all had some luck. Lets keep this chain going! I usually am going blind out on the water, so I hope we can keep this chain going!
