Hello MN,

Never done this before, but I am new to the Duluth area... accepted a new opportunity for work. I am looking for some fishing buddies. I have all of my gear except the auger lol wont have it for a month. No room in the car. Was wondering if anyone is looking for someone to fish with, or any advice on lakes in the Duluth area. Love pan fish and have never really been able to fish for walleyes, so looking forward to hooking into a few. Let me know of any interest!

Fished all week in the Ely area.  Got most of the smallmouth bass on senko worm wacky hooked along the shorelines.  Got a few on splitshot with plain hook and leech as well in the deeper rock piles.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that my best bait was the Northland Tackle DipStick worms with a 3/0 Trokar Eagle Claw hook. They worked great next to the trees and in the deep water (but you have to let them sink along time).

I spent that last week at the Echo Shores resort on Little Long Lake. Fun place to stay and good fishing. I found the larger fish deep >18'. For large fish I ended up with 3 small mouth over 19" and 1 large mouth that touched the line at 20". There are lots of bass near the fallen timber along the lake. There are alot more trees this year from some storms earlier in the season. Bluegill bite was also good. They kept my 4 year old happy while we were in the boat. He even out fished his grandma and aunts most days. Good luck up there!

Bass continue to move into their summer feeding patterns and striking top water lures. Walleyes are hitting well on leeches and nightcrawlers. Gold and nickel colored spinner baits are doing well along with clown and fire tiger crankbaits.

Lower side of the power dam or Kawishiwi Falls area on Fall Lake is producing walleyes. Fish in the current and near the bottom for best results. Ensign and Vera lakes in the BWCA produced some nice size walleyes and bass this past week.

Stop in at Spirit of the Wilderness Outfitters and Outdoor Store, Ely, MN for your latest fishing report and wide choice of live bait and tackle. We talk fishing. Open 6 am - 9 pm daily with plenty of of off street parking.

See you in Ely soon.
