There is a launch ramp on the northeast side of the lake, near the dam. Can launch multispecies boats up to 18 foot.

Yellow perch grow well in this lake, with the mucky bottom this lake gets wigglers (mayfly larva) and the perch get to 15 inches that I have cought. Try the 13 to 15 foot depths in the north end of the lake in the winter when ice covered. In the spring you can find a run of perch and waleye by the south end of the lake where the river flows in. The big gills are cought by shore anglers on M-40 by the large culvert that goes to Ackley lake.
Maple also holds some good size Brown trout that enter in from the east and south branch of the Paw Paw rivers. Once they go over the dams they stay in the short river section till the lake cools in the fall, then they go back up the river to just bellow the dams.

Good lake for Largemouth. Very shallow lake. Has consistantly produced some medium to large Pigs everytime I fish this lake. Because the lake is so Murky, a dark color seems to always work best. Somtimes it is slow, but when you catch them, it is almost always worth having some patience.
