7/12/18, Saginaw Bay, Au Gres, Fishing Report
We finally had a beautiful day for fishing today with low winds, a light chop, and filtered sunshine; near perfect for walleye fishing. We ran back to the spot where we found lots of walleyes yesterday and picked up right where we left off with non-stop action right form the time I set lines until the end of the trip. My clients from Cadillac, MI and Chicago, IL had to problem putting 24 walleyes in the box in short order. They also kept a couple perfect eating size channel catfish too. I mixed some crankbaits into the trolling spread today and the walleyes ate them up. The old standby, chrome, 1/4 oz. Hot-N-Tots with a rubber core sinker 5' ahead of the lures did the trick. A trolling speed of about 1.8 mph was my velocity. We also some meat today too and that also worked like a charm. The wind is predicted to be up some for tomorrow with two completely different wind predictions form two weather sources. The National Weather Service calling for 12 knot SW winds, which would be fine, but Windfinder is predicting wind to 27 knots from the south turning SW, which would be awful. We'll just have to wait and see how thing shape up tomorrow morning to see if we can fish.
