The annual Brevort trip was a great success!  The pike were hungry.  Fished the weedbeds by the dam.  Spinner baits and plastic worms were my go to baits.White spinners and black plastics were the best colors.

We have been here since Thursday.  This is the only fish I caught, but it was a great fight.  White Terminator in 8 feet of water near the Dam.  Find the weedbeds and work them.

Let me just start out like this, this lake is in a terrible state right now. Fishing for anything worth fishing (other then 19" pike) is just a waste of time. We used an lure and any bottom bouncer under the sea to try and catch eyes'. If you don't have a dink perch on your bouncer you have weeds. If you don't have weeds on your crankbait your fishing in the middle of the lake. Don't not come to this lake in hopes of catching a mess of eyes or "big perch". They just don't bite, or don't exist in this lake. If you want to catch some fish of decent size, target smallies near dams and weed beds or take a ride to the weer/dam and catch a couple fish on the Dam or you might get lucky on a hot bluegill night in front of the fishing dock at the campground, just a worm and a slip bobber will work magic. If I haven't steered you away from going after walleye, your best bet is just jigging perch.

Good pike fishing this week.  Used a variety of bait- crawler harnesses, Dardevles, Rapalas, Terminators, all caught fish.  Also hooked up on a small largemouth.  Find the weedbeds in 5-9 feet of water and it's money!!

I did not try below the dam on this trip. I have in the past and only caught a very small brookie.

Spent 10 days camping at Brevoort Dam site. Fishing was very slow. No walleye or pike. Only caught a few very small perch. This fishery seems to be declining. I'm not sure why. Any thoughts??? Sad

Camping at the dam again!! No 'eyes yet. Lot's of perch straight out from the dam. Great camping weather. Lot's of Mosquitos. Caught a nice 11" perch on a bronze countdown Rapalas.

Sorry for the very late report. Fished over the Labor Day Weekend. Targeted Walleye over the cribs in front of the Dam. No 'eyes but caught a nice mess of Perch on 2-hook crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers. Purple and Chartreuse worked. Got real windy on Saturday so we headed to Boedne Bay. Caught some nice Northerns on Terminator spinnerbaits right in front of the boat launch at the campground. Black and Blue were the hot colors. This lake gets ANGRY when it's windy!!

pretty poor fishing all around, caught a 19" eye and a short eye, several SMBs and mud chickens (aka bullheads). Fair number of other anglers with limited action seen on the other boats. Hope the weather is better next time...
