Interior river levels remain low and with the arrival of fall angling opportunities for walleye and smallmouth bass have improved. Lakes in and around Black Hawk county have been providing catches of panfish and largemouth bass. Trout streams remain in excellent condition and will remain to be stocked unannounced throughout the month of October. For further information contact your local bait shops for the most recent information.

Anglers have been targeting Brinker Lake for crappie.

Black Crappie - Fair: Try fishing and locating structure in that 8-10 foot of water using a crappie minnow under a slip bobber.

Interior river levels remain low and with the arrival of fall angling opportunities for walleye and smallmouth bass should improve. Trout streams are low and clear across northeast Iowa so consider fishing during low light conditions and approach streams carefully to avoid disturbing wild fish. For further information contact your nearest local bait shop

Black Crappie - Fair: Target brush piles in that 6'-8' of water using a slip bobber, sinker and hook tipped with a minnow.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Target bass with plastics, spinnerbaits or crank baits afternoon to later evening hours.

There have been a few reports of anglers catching crappie and largemouth bass on Brinker Lake.
