Black Crappie - Fair: Look for crappie near structure and contour in 5-15 feet of water. Use a jig tipped with crawler or a small minnow on a jig drifted over deeper habitat.

Surface water temperatures are in the upper 70's and low 80's. Panfish are moving off shore to deeper habitat in most lakes as their spawning season comes to an end.

Water clarity is good. Bluegill and crappie can be found in deeper habitat as their spawning season comes to an end.

Water temperatures are in the mid to upper 70's. Water clarity is good. Some bluegills are still on nests.

Bluegill - Fair: Look for bluegill nests along shore and in areas of of roughly 2-6 feet of water with gravel/sand substrate. These can be great areas to target larger bluegill with a small jig fished under a bobber.

Bluegill - Fair: This time of year you can expect to start seeing bluegill nests along shore and in areas of of roughly 2-6 feet of water with gravel/sand substrate. These can be great areas to target larger bluegill with a small jig fished under a bobber.

Iowa's free fishing weekend is this Friday the 3rd through Sunday. Iowa residents may fish without a license during these days (all other regulations must be followed). This is a great chance to take a friend or family member out fishing. Surface water temperatures are around 70 degrees in most area lakes.

Water temperature is in the upper 60's.

Surface water temperatures have dropped into the lower 60's in most area lakes, but will quickly warm up again with the higher temperatures expected this weekend.

Water temperature is in the lower 60's.

Bluegill - Fair: As the water warms up again this week expect to start seeing bluegill nests along shore and in areas of of roughly 2-6 feet of water with gravel/sand substrate. These can be great areas to target larger bluegill with a small jig fished under a bobber.
