Now is a good time to shore fish at the flood control lakes in Wabash, Huntington, and Miami counties. The Sally is almost down to winter pool and the Missy is about ten feet from winter pool. I like to fish in water 8-10 ft. deep and I fish 4-5 ft. down with two tube jigs about a foot apart. Crappie nibbles can help at times. Work the bait very slowly. The water is cold and the fish won't chase anything very far away. I also check the solunar tables for the major and minor periods. They don't bite all day when its cold. Great eating when the water is cold and the filets are firm.

Our group had good success Friday. Fished from 8am-2pm with off and on bites all day. Most kept close to a limit of 25 with much sorting. I had 8 nice slabs 12" or more with the rest average 9 or 10". I had success on an orange crappie jig tipped with bee moths but other baits worked well also. Some guys use only small rapalas with orange the favorite color.
