People just talk about how shallow it is. Im sure theres a couple but i dont believe its a lake that people specifically target walleye. I heard theres good pan fishing on it

I’m curious if anyone has caught any walleye in the reservoir this year?

Yeah I always want to get conversation going for this lake. Yeah I fish it often, catch ALOT ot crappies, white bass hybrids, and occasionally walleye in the reservoir, more so in the tailwaters.

Crappie Crazy,

Congrats on the limits!

My girlfriend and I just got a boat to fish Eagle Creek and we aren't doing so great.  I are launching by the airport and fishing the west side of the lake, mostly shallow.

We love crappie, but new at fishing for them.  Are there any times better than others for catching crappies?  Are you using minnows with your umbrella rig?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and continued success!

I have been fishing Eaglecreek reservoir since the early 70's. There are a lot of crappie, both black and white. You can catch them shallow and deep. It all depends on your presentation. Right now I have been spider rigging in 15 to 26 feet of water 10-15 ft. Deep. I have limited out each time this year. Had to take a break. Tired of cleaning fish. Lol

Eagle Creek is a very viable lake for fishing. I have caught lots of big crappie and white bass at EC over the years. I will occasionally catch a largemouth bass while crappie fishing. The lake also has lots of channel cat and a stable walleye population. The water quality in Eagle Creek is stained to muddy during high water as is the case with most reservoirs. The lake does have a blue green algae problem at various times of the year as do the other two reservoirs in the area. The algae looks bad and can irritate the skin, but it has no impact on the fish population.

I used to fish Eagle Creek Reservoir years ago. Caught plenty of Bass and Crappie every time I went. I moved away for several years and then moved back to the area. I bought a Bass boat and was excited to fish there again. I went fishing there nine times in one summer without catching a single fish! NOTHING!!!

I noticed the lake was always incredibly muddy and there was no aquatic vegetation along the shorelines anymore. I read that Purdue University had buoys that monitored temperature, alkalinity, oxygen levels, etc., and that the lake had extremely low oxygen levels.

Then I read online about a chemical spill while they were treating the lake for a blue green algae infestation. I found very little information. Almost like the media was burying the story.

I sold my boat and quit fishing there. That was seven years ago. I still cannot hardly find anything online about the viability of Eagle Creek Reservoir as a fishing lake.

Does ANYBODY have any knowledge of Eagle Creek Reservoir? Has any attempt been made to clean it up and restock it? Does anyone fish there anymore? Are there Largemouth Bass? Have they been killed off for good? Are there healthy aquatic plants in the lake? Or is it still muddy and without oxygen?

Thanks in advance for any information provided about the health of Eagle Creek Reservoir as a viable sport fishing lake.
