Griswold Lake

I have fished this lake countless times ever since i was little and i have never been skunked once on this lake, from slab crappies to monster pike. This lake is a hidden gem. Never dissapointing

used to live on this lake. great crappies and largemouth largest northern 32" channel by spillway is filling in really shallow. good ice fishing but if it is slow hit the channel just over the spillway leading to the river. always a good spot

I have fished this lake so many times since about 1973. The stories i could tell would be a good night at one of the local bars in the area.One example there used to be a bait house just off the lake we called old Joes i think, there were pictures on his wall of fish caught at the lake .One picture i will never forget a guy holding a white crappie from shoulder to shoulder written on it was 21 inchs long.But the lake is one of those well hidden tuff to get on lakes.(access from spillway from fox river)It does hold very good populations of good size fish.The report on this lake said its depth is 12 feet .I can say from fishing there that there is a 21 foot hole on the southeast side of the lake near the picnic area,and a area of about 16 feet on the north shore.Crappie are great in the channel in spring located in the north west corner of the lake.The lake has very good bottom structure from hard sand bottom to shallow weedy areas close to deep dropoffs.Flats to one deep hole surrounded by weeds.This lake holds very good fish for a small lake .The secret to this lake i think is in the spring the fox river floods fish swim over the flooded spillway to be trapped when the river retracts to its normal depth.Very few people fish there but if you want a very quiet place to fish with no speed boat and ect,try it .Ice fishing is the best hint bring an extra bucket if you fish through the night.
