History & Status of the Fishery
In 2014, the FPDKC entered into a cooperative management agreement with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to facilitate fisheries management activities. Channel catfish are occasionally stocked to supplement the population. Site-specific regulations apply. An electrofishing survey took place in May 2018.
Overall, this fishery looks great. Bass and bluegill numbers look good and northern pike have been stocked a few times in the past years, so though not abundant, don?t be surprised if you hook into one of these toothy fish. Common carp were also captured but not overly abundant. Black crappie and golden shiner have been sampled in previous surveys. Black crappie were abundant in the 2014 sample with 20% of the catch measuring longer than nine inches.

High pressured lake with alot of heavy mill foil and lily pads creating constant tough fishing conditions. Lake needs cleared bank fishing locations since non native plants have taken over accessible fishing locations. Fish populations are decreasing with a high increase in bluegill. No dock cleats on boat ramp pier for securing boat while parking vehicle. No pole holders on pier or wood fishing dock. Noticed no Monofilament recycling tubes anywhere around lake or garbage cans. https://www.boatus.org/clean-boating/recycling/fishing-line-recycling/. Nice preserve with a full lake trail.

Oakhurst lake has a boat launch although not clear from aerial photos whether or not it has good solid bottom. Ramp is on Grandview Drive off of 5th avenue in Aurora IL.
