Got out Friday and Saturday afternoons. crappie are starting to move into the ponds. Got 6 Friday and a few more Saturday plus about 20 keeper Bluegills. Eating wax worms close to shore on a tiny jig under a bobber. Have to cast it out and work it around every 10-15 seconds. If you leave it in one place it takes forever to get bit.

Yes it is public. It's on Elmwood road right by the Rock River.

Got out for a while yesterday. Marked a lot of fish coming up to sniff my bait. Caught 7 gills and 1 perch. Only 3 big enough to keep (barely).

Strange that there's still open water in a couple of spots on these little ponds.

First fished the boat launch area at Sportscore and found no water deeper than 3 feet. Moved out to the ponds and had a couple nice looking taps but no hookups till i mumbled a prayer for a fish and DID hook up. Landed a 22 inch LM buffalo right at dark. Fought for several minutes on light rod and 4 lb test. What an amazing fish! Truly exciting. Took a couple of quick photos before sliding that beauty back into the water. Ice super clear, got to see the fish fighting under my feet much of the time. When it finally got to the ice hole and was tired, I was glad I got a new 7 inch auger today, the 4" hole would have been too small, I feel. Going back tomorrow for carp again. This is my first buffalo thru the ice and I am stoked! Recetnly watched a video of In Fisherman magazing where they were catching carp to 30+ lbs thru the ice on lake Michigan. Holy mackerel! Or rather, Holy Carp! Good luck everyone. Ora et labora (pray and work). Monkfish
