A friend of mine just moved here and is wanting me to take his 5yr old ice fishing for the first time. Can anyone point us in the right direction so i could potentially put this little man on some bluegill or crappie. All fishing will be catch and release were just looking to get this little man hooked on ice fishing. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

My name us Chris, and I'm a huge avid fisherman. I'm moving to Oakwood hills in the next 2 weeks off of lake shore drive.  I love the fact that the lake is private, and is really kept clean. I'm just looking for a few pointers to where I can start off fishing on the lake. I'm looking to mainly target Largemouth and Smallmouth, but love all species. Any tips or suggestions would be awesome.  Also anyone who lives in oakwood hills id love to meet up and fish! hope everyone has a great weekend and tight lines

Yes, a map of the lake. You can get one at the village hall. Its a old boy scouts map.

Fished from 4-7. Caught about 15 crappies, 10 perch and 1 small northern. Kept 2 crappies. The ice is lossing the battle. Went from 4.5 to 3 inches fast. Getting soft too. This maybe the last of the year. Crying

I know exactly what your saying about people screaming across the lake or back bay area. It sounds like your doing your best of checking on non residents. Thats all it takes is a few good fisherman to make a difference. Thanx for doing your best for silver. Maybe we will cross paths out there sometime soon and we can chat. Might get out sunday around noon if the ice holds up. Good luck to ya the rest of the ice season.

Went out yesterday. Had saw about 10 flags go up and 2 fish. Pike and a bass. Both released back. Stay to 9ish. Caught 25 crappies, kept 5. Slow day and ok night. Now with all the new faces on the ice, i always ask if they live here and ask for there addrest. I have asked people to leave before but only in the winter. Also 2 summers ago, i caught a 38" northern and wanted pictures of it and i brought it to shore and a guy across the lake yelled at me. Practice caught and release. He said. I told him i wanted pictures of it. I released it after the pictures. Well the next day that guy that yelled at me, caught a smaller northern, goes back to the shoreline at his house. Takes a picture with his kids and then walks in to his house and comes back with out the fish. True story. Good luck

I just wanted to say it was nice getting out on the lake today. I noticed a ton of guys again and I hope you all remember to practice catch and release. The lake has come a long way and I would hate to see it go to Hell because guys are keeping every quality fish and telling everyone and their mother about this lake. This winter my neighbor has seen guys keeping pike and bass already not counting all the bass he has seen kept all Summer! Please practice catch and release on this lake to help keep the lake full of the quality fish we all enjoy to catch. I have been on this lake for 30 years and would love to take my grand kids out fishing with hopes of catching the big one! Thank you!
