I have called the marina office and they told me you can fish there entire shoreline even in the harbor, just not from the boat docks, u have to fish from the rocks off the board walk or the fishing pier

Pikeman.. I have been fishing this harbor and Waukegan harbor every no and then strictly for bass whenever I'm in the area. I usually use a heavier football head with some kind of creature bait. I had a bass on all the way out at the end of the fishing pier on the rocks but didn't land it. Saw 2 LM sunning near the beginning of the pier as well. Caught a nice 3-4# SM bass at Waukegan harbor w a power worm and tungsten football head and I have seen several very very large SM there. I think minnows would work but I don't fish live bait and I don't think the bass congregate in any certain area so I am always trying to cover water from shore in order to find them. Hope that gives u some help. I like Waukegan harbor over Winthrop because the water clarity is a lot better and there's so nice rock ledges and whatnot -Luke

definitely meateater, in previous years out of 20 cohos, 3 would be 1.5, probably 5 that would be 2, 8 or so would be 3, and 3-4 would be 4-5. this year, ive only been out a few times but the smallest fish has been 3.5lbs. thanks for the report

Sorry im rushed so just a quick report. Got out this morn 0500. Set lines in 20fow right out of the harbor trollin due east and got the first hit at 35fow on a aqua peanut behind 5/8 oz on planer. Second fish in 45fow on a silver dipsey out 35ft set on 3 with homemade blue tinsel fly. Third fish hit green sparkle homemade fly on a purple dipsey out 50 set 3 in 50fow. Trolled to 60fow w/o anymore action. Turned and headed back west. One more fish on green sparkle in 47fow. Next 45min were dry. Hit 35fow, turned my head from the rods to look at the garmin and noticed a monster bait ball, in that split second, I looked back to see 3 of the rods bangin. Woke the wife up and we managed to get all three in. Turned to repeat and picked up another coho mid turn in 33fow. Straightened out and mananged a double. With the limit in the boat and 3-4footers rollin down from kenosha, packed it up and headed in. Off the water about 0700. Interesting side note, while cleanin them, one of the coho had 2 big crayfish in its gut. Never seen that before. 1 of them had a Goby in em too. Does anybody else think that the average coho so far this year have been a lil bit bigger then the previous few years. Just about every one weve gotten in the boat so far has averaged 4-5lbs where as last year our average was 2-3 with plenty of 1.5lb mixed in. Final 2 - aqua peanut 00 blaze rivera sonic behind planer 4 - blue tinsel 00 blaze RS behind small dipsey set 3 out 35 4 - green sprkl 00 blaze RS behind med dipsey out 3 out 50 Left the phone at home so unfortunatley no pics.

Finally got to North Point @0800 (Wife wouldnt get movin) and set lines straight out of the harbor. Got to 28' and Bam! double. Lost one while nettin the first one. 4lb ho. This is about how it went for the next hour. Had 9 in the boat before we even got to the nuke. The wife looks at me and says "We should have no problem getting this last fish." I could of thrown her overboard. The non stop action completey shut down, and the promise of the seasons first coho limit faded into the fog. After another hour of trollin without any bumps, we decided to hit the perch grounds and give it a shot. The wife was helpin me bring in lines and as soon as she picked up the rod, it was just about ripped from her hands. As she yelled, I looked back to see a nice king jump 3ft into the air, 30ft behind the boat. She battled the fish into the net and we snapped a few pics of her first king. Brought in the lines and ran to 55fow and started driftin for perch. IT WAS SLOW!!! We drifted back and forth for about an hour w/o a hit. With the wife passed out and her rod tucked under her leg, I just about called it a day, I looked back to see her awoken from her slumber chasing after my $150 rod as a nice perch pulled it across the deck of the boat. To my relief, she was able to grab it just as it was goin over and pulled in a nice 14" jumbo. Made the drift a couple more times with nothing to show and headed back in. Good day out. Water was perfect, and I even got a cool tanline from my one pulled up sleeve and sunglasses. The coho were the biggest that weve caught all season. Not one under 3lbs. Oh yah, all coho and king hit dodger "peanut", with the majority of the hos on dipseys
