Fished Lake Atwood today 5/6 ,from 330 pm-6pm. Found out lake was opened for Inland trout season on Friday May 1. Supposedly 1500 lbs of trout were stocked this spring per MCHENRY conservation officer . Could not get a bite ! Tried Power Bait, small 1/8 ounce spoons, crawlers, and wax worms. Never did see a fish even rise ! Saw a young man lift a decent size bass on a stringer from shore, but no trout taken while i was there . There is a boat ramp there , to launch kayaks, row boats, and canoes. No motors or minnows allowed ! Guess all the stupid fish were caught first few days, and now just the smart ones are left  ! LOL <(((((<

Matthew323 tips are just tips... You still need to know where on the lake to catch them. So far this year I haven't been shut out. Can you say that? I do admit fishing is much slower this year, but nice fish are still being caught! Many of those by me! Tounge Out

Went out on Sunday with a buddy and we managed to catch 8 rainbow trout. Fishing seemed to be rough for most people we talked with. We caught all our fish on yellow floating trout nuggets. We tried all colors and mini marshmellows with no luck. Yellow is the color! We got pretty ticked off with the young group of kids in four canoes. They were very rude, loud, and swearing worse then truck drivers. However we did seem to catch fish every time they past by. This tells me that the fish are still very lethargic and just sitting on bottom. They probably were spooked by canoes and noise, moved off bottom and took our baits. All fish we caught were on the wind blown shoreline. I bet in one more week they will be going crazy for anything.? They just haven't had enough time to acclimate to water. Good luck everyone!

I had to work on opening day, but heard fishing was rough. Also heard they didn't stock until Thursday before opening. Went out on Sat. 13th. And was very cold and windy. Managed to get 3 nice 2 lb. rainbow trout on the wind blown shorelines. All on a #16 treble hook with yellow floating trout nuggets, small egg sinker with split shot 16" up. Not very fancy, but very productive. Going to give it another try in the morning.
