Wind was fairly calm. Surface water temps were in the high 50's

I fished from the upper end to the shore north of the dam with no Saugeye bites. I was using jigs with plastics and a part worm on one pole and a minnow on a plain hook with a number four split shot dragging on and off the bottom on the other pole, using the trolling motor running fairly slow. I caught 2 10 inch bass and 3 or 4 4 inch Crappie and one bluegill. In other words the lake was nearly dead. I live close by, so I will go back next week and try again.

On another note, I have been catching limits of Crappie in Clinton. The water temperature there nearly to the dam close to the north shore was 64 degrees in the afternoon. Crappie were in coves in pre spawn.

Ice fished this lake for the first time today with no success. Jigged the channel out from the boat launch, then moved to the dam.  Fished for almost 3 hours and didn’t get a bite.

4” ice in both areas.

Will stick with the private ponds where I’ve been catching some nice gills the past couple days.

Went ice fishing yesterday. Ice on the west side of lake by the dam/bridge was 2 to 4 inches. However, as I walked further from shore, ice depth was only 1 to 2 inches. Ice on east side of like was under 1 inch and couldn't support any weight. I drilled 12 holes and caught 2 bass. Larger of the 2 bass was only 9 inches. I would caution anyone going on the ice to use extreme caution. Ice depth changes quickly so make sure to measure ice frequently.
