Thanks FJ! Sounds typical there. Stopped last night after work they kicked us out right at 6. Managed 2 and guy next to me had 3. Super small but one respectable. Put mine back for you. LoL
We got there late. Everyone said it was better early. Another friend said he did better late afternoon.
Hey FishJerry how was the bite? Small ones at Spring Grove but steady action.
61° - 65° F
Was out over the weekend. Are the trout getting smaller? Saw a guy or two with decent sized ones but the rest were tiny.
Below 40° F
6° - 10° F
Spent 4 hours out with the wife and kids. Managed 3 trout and a few gills.
All on small jig tipped with wax worm. Bite is light but persistent.
Found fish in 10 fow holding tight to downed trees.
Saw at least 5 other groups out, everyone was having about the same luck.
Just the smart trout are left ! All the easy ones have been taken ! hopefully with weather warming up next two days, there might be a bug hatch , and get some of these smart ones near the surface on the bite !
Funny, I fished Hollows Sat afternoon with waxworms under a bobber and didn't get a bite . Saw no one catch a fish in 3 hours. Evidently the trout were cleaned out before noon.
41° - 45° F
Fished Banana Lake today for trout from 8am to 1130am. Not even a bump ! Saw about 12 guys fishing for trout, and game warden said nobody had caught one yet around 10am. Tried powerbait, spinners, and kastmaster , nothing ! Talked to Jim at Salmon Shop, in Palatine. He said there is better action at the Hollows, fishing with wax worms under a slip bobber, and just cast out and twitch ! The good news is both lakes have trout averaging 1 1/2 lbs. each !
Exactly same for me. Managed one yesterday. Skunked on Sunday. Got 2. Only saw a few guys doing better Sat. Not sure what is going on?
Got 2 on Opening day, went there Tuesday morning (Today), at 7am for 2 hours, got skunked.
