Swamp buck,  Great post and yes you are correct the tribe did shoot a cow and calf moose with a spotlight from the road in the Powell marsh. If it’s all about equal rights then the state should have casinos

Typical liberal BS. Everything is racism right Trout? Just so you know I have Chippewa blood flowing through my veins so I don't where that comes from. The issue with the Indians is the the fish and game of this state belong to all of us. But the Indians get special privilege's and they love to exploit those privileges! Like spearing 50" musky's that so many sportsmans groups and anglers have worked to protect-just for spite. They complain when they don't get a gambling casino but they don't give a damn about destroy resorts in Northern Wi by spearing the hell out of the walleye. So in other words, help our economy while we hurt yours. Have you ever been to a reservation? I have and hunted a few of them out west. Garbage everywhere and lots of thrill kill bucks shot by the "BRAVES" of the tribe. Disgusting! They are not the authority on conservation on the fish and game of this state and never will be. Wasn't there a moose shot in Northern Wisconsin a few years back by Indians? Most all of Wisconsin sportsman adhere to laws of the state and the principles of Fair Chase. However the tribe does not. I marvel at their hunting skills when they open that pickup door with the aid of a spotlight to shoot that deer. They are really in tune with the land..... That's not racism. Maybe we should all identify as Indian's and do the same thing..... Where would that leave our fish and wildlife? I've said before, I don't hate the wolf but they need to be managed-  with a bullet.

There is more to wolf management than impacts on reservation lands.   There is certainly more to the new wolf management plan than the 350 number and the buffer zone around reservation land.

I will never understand racism.   Wisconsin  has a problem with racism against Indians.   It is clearly seen in how some approach natural resource management.  It is clearly accepted by ordinary people.   It is repulsive.

I'm fine with no wolf hunting withing 6 miles of tribal land.   But on that note then there should be no spearing outside of six miles from tribal land too.

DNR website has a place to send comments and opinions. Every sports person should send a comment about the wolf plan.  500 wolves IS more than enough imo.

The 6 mile buffer around the Tribal lands is BS. If I was an owner I would be screaming to high heaven. If the Tribes don't want to hunt wolves on their land that's fine but don't tell JQ Public what to do on privately owned land. Are the tribes going to allow everyone to hunt/fish 6 miles into tribal land? Ha I think not.

Hate seeing the plan.. no numbers for population come on.... DNR really needs to ask wolf support when Hunter buy Deer tags not some random survey when only 1100 ish were returned.. How many Wolf watching landowners are in Wisconsin ?

Sooner or later people will start taking things into there own hands..

Its not a good plan. They are moving away from the numerical number of wolves for management to sustainable management. That means more wolves as long as they have enough deer, elk, cattle, and sheep to eat. We also have to have the Indians blessing and impute from pro wolf groups who manage the cute wolf on emotion. We don't even have a wolf hunting season! The wolf is nothing more than a way to limit hunting. A recent article in Washington State ask this very question. If the wolves are managing the prey species then why do we need hunters or hunting? Some of you on here are so ignorant of this fact!  Anti hunters do not want hunting no matter how they do it and if the wolf if the way to accomplish this then they are all for it Wake UP!!

My understanding is there are 256 wolf packs in the state. The DNR says the average pack unit is 5 or 6 wolves. Let's be conservative. So 256x5=1280 wolves in WI. From what I have read a total harvest/mortality of the 28/29 percent will maintain the current number of wolves. So that means at least 320 wolves can be harvested and that leaves around 40 for natural mortality, car kills, etc. and the wolf population stays the SAME! Remember the original number was 350 wolves for the entire state. We now have over 3.6 times the original goal of 350. So which way is the DNR & Federal Government managing the wolves?????
