Link to the Town of West Marshland representatives and officials. Duke testified to the NRB that he represented the Township as "Water Commissioner" or something to that effect. However he's not listed in any capacity on this web-site.  Anyway. Let the Town of West Marshland know if you're sick of them wasting your tax dollars.

The issue is done. The state of Wisconsin has invested a lot of time and money, frankly to much of both, into the lunatic pseudo science of one man.  He brought property in a marsh that has been a nearly 20 decade drought, now that mother nature has resumed to near normal he's not happy. I will not engage any direct comments with his posts.
It's time to talk money and who's going to pay for all these experts and time invested. If the town of West Marshland what's to continue to support this insanity let them foot the bill. I'll look into contact info for the Township representatives so anyone interested can contact them. Will follow up.

Sorry... I grew up in the area and have lived in our current home for almost 30 years.  Many residents with issues go back to the homestead years.

Zoomie/Duke, how long have you lived there?  I asked you earlier and you must not have seen the question?

Like I stated earlier, read the reports.  Everybody knows something until they read the facts. I'd be happy to meet with anyone in order to lay documents from the USGS, WDNR, NWS, and the independent expert for you to decide. I added another snip...studies were performed in 2019 & 2020. Explain how the water table in coarse sand drops in the study area while receiving rain. In the second snip...explain how the USGS test well in Webster, Wi (which is in the same aquifer) shows basically no change in 2019 and actually rises while the water table drops in all test wells in the study area. Be sure to note the scale of the graphs.

Yep. Buyer Beware.

Anyone who wants to hear more about this can watch here and skip to 54:30 - 1:38:00. It's  a link to the NRB meeting where you can see this specific issue addressed at length:

Professional hydrologists from the state and federal level have analyzed Duke's theories and have totally debunked them. An independent hydrologist was hired to do another analysis and also debunked his ideas. The experts are too professional to call the dude bat-s**t crazy, but it appears that's the case. Just sad at this point. Waste of taxpayer money on all this bull-shart. I say make Duke and the Town of West Marshland pay it back. Biggest embarrassment to the Grantsburg area since Alquist's illegal requirement that creationism be taught in the public school.

Gillespie...would you like a copy of the 2016 Crex Water Quality Assessment that was conducted by the WDNR's Water Program? The study was conducted over 2-3 years and was very thorough. Would you also like to see the letter written by the author of that report that specifically states that our drinking water quality is severely impacted due to the WDNR artificially elevating the water?  Here's a snip of just one paragraph from the WDNR Team that conducted the study.  You are right...Buyer Beware.  Look at the facts.  Don't buy what the residents say, but also don't buy what the WDNR says...please be willing to look at the information available before taking a position.

Residents favor restoring and maintaining the Crex which is what the WDNR Master Plan states as a wetland objective.  The WDNR has already identified that artificially elevating the water levels in flowages(which goes beyond restoring and maintaining) causes the groundwater flooding and water quality issues that residents are dealing with.  The problem is not the depth of water in the flowages...it is the elevation of the water. The WDNR should consider dredging which would allow for the water depth they wish...without causing the water table to be raised which causes groundwater flooding and quality issues.

I will be making an appearance during the September NRB Meeting, tune in.

Fin Bender...have you read the 2016 Crex Water Quality Assessment that was conducted by the WDNR's Water Program? www.glgp-plan.com

I am a fisherman...if you were concerned about fish you'd read the report.  The water management of Crex lead to the elimination of the trout population in Hay and Whiskey Creek downstream from Crex. Sorry to be the person to break it to you.  When you are ready for a tour of Crex or ready to sit down face to face to help with a solution that everyone can live with, let me know.  No worries on your insults, I'll forgive you!

Zoomie, hogwash pseudo science crap you come up with. You can candy-coat it all you want and BS to the days end. You "love" Crex because it's across the street from your house and you don't want neighbors there. No sound science from experts has determined that the water in your yard is a result of Crex's practices. Your claim that you don't want Crex drained is a laughable flat out lie. Imagine the narcissism of one dude with the desire to destroy an entire ecosystem because he and his neighbors have wet diches, that desire so desperate he's been on a multi-year crusade to recruit enough disciples to put a cult-like plan in place. Your claim of iron bacteria being a result of Crex is freakin' nuts. It's EVERYWHERE in the sand county of Glacial Lake Grantsburg!     Finally....go away...this site is for fishermen...those with sanity.

GLGP-Crex Water Issue

If you have questions regarding Crex Water issue that has been mentioned on this site, ask questions rather than slam the affected residents. The residents love the Crex... and understand the issue.  This could be a place you can ask questions.  The GLGP Water Project is about solving issues, not creating issues.  Fin Bender says that us "wachos" want to drain the Crex...not true. Just want the use of our property back and cleanest drinking water possible.  There aren't any wachos involved, just hard working folks that request the WDNR to be good neighbors.

Thanks for the idea Madforlabs. At your suggestion I looked at the WCC environmental committee a bit further. (This is the committee that the NRB wants the DNR to work with. The same one that wants to ban lead fishing tackle and ammunition and wants to eliminate fossil fuels.) It turns out that the current Vice-chair (and recent co-chair) is in a 1.5 year long court battle over a large quantity of illegal substances (drugs, intent to distribute).  Nice partnership.

Dylan Jennings, public information director with the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, said the wolf or Ma'iingan is a keystone species or relative for the commission's member tribes and represents an iconic emblem of their clan systems or forms of government.
"They're just concerned that these efforts to rush into a wolf hunt in the state goes counter to the procedural components outlined in the current and existing process that the state is supposed to follow," said Jennings. "Any changes or veering away from this process would deny our member tribes the proper consultation process."
Jennings also highlighted biological concerns with hunting wolves in the middle of their breeding season. He said hunting wolves doesn't make sense to tribes, which are subsistence-based communities, if the animals are not being utilized for their hide or food."

I urge all of you to do some googling of the Nelson Institute.

A couple of paragraphs from one of the articles I read.

Then there are tactics like hunting predators which, research suggests, can actually reinforce predatory behavior. “If you kill a wolf pack in your area that’s been living there peacefully, instead of training these animals to not kill your livestock, you’re making space for new animals to come in who might kill your livestock,” Louchouarn says. Plus, if the range rider is focused on chasing down a predator, they leave the livestock exposed to other predators. “We want our riders focusing on handling domestic animals instead of the stealthy wild predators,” she adds.
Louchouarn conducted her study on a large cattle ranch outside of Alberta, Canada, in the foothills of Banff National Park. Photo courtesy of Naomi LouchouarnSo rather than keeping cattle in fences or hunting and killing predators, this method asks the range riders to keep their focus on the wellness of the herd. Beyond keeping the herd together, why is managing stress so important? “Cows are so sensitive to stress,” Louchouarn explains. “When they’re stressed, they could get pneumonia or other diseases and die.” They also start their lives stressed, getting weaned from their mothers almost immediately. “A lot of calves die. We’re talking huge mortality rates, like 20 percent.” Although a higher-stress mitigation tactic might get rid of the predator, the stress of those methods is likely to cause cattle deaths anyway.
