coons?

Looks like coons will be thick again this year

Funny that this forum allows the word of this thread title.  They consider it racist. I once typed it in a forum and my post was deleted.

Talked to another farmer yesterday. Using live traps have netted them 44 coons so far this summer. WI. needs to put a bounty on them to cut population.

Not sure how much of a difference it makes but I prefer the push/pull vs the pull only. Notice the notch on the white trap. It’s triggered by either a push down or a pull. I just use a screwdriver driver to set them. Haven’t had anny issues with that.

Try the Duke dog proof coon traps. They are very effective but you still have to shoot the coon. Be sure to order the setting tool with the traps if you decide to buy them.

In 3 days with 3 traps. 5 coon and a skunk. 

I don't believe putting poison of any sort out would be a good idea.

Heard from a friend that mixing Fly bait with coca-cola takes them out fast.  Fly bait sold at fleet farm.  Mix to moisten and put on a paper plate.
They do not get far after eating it.

I have no experience with this, just a tip from someone I know.  

I have problems with them on a small residential site so poison not safe for my area.  Trapping with a have-no-heart got me one but the rest are too big and roll my trap over and over until it is upside down and the locking bars do not lock the ends.  I find the traps upside down in my neighbor's yard sometimes.

We never saw it but some GIANT critter dug a hole in the roof of the house last August.  Had to get the whole roof replaced last October.
All the neighbors laughed.  But joke was on them as across the street retired neighbor found a giant hole ripped thru his roof too.  He got a new roof this spring.

I don't hate coons but we seem to have plenty of them even though I am in a subdivision.  Can't grow sweet corn in the garden as it seems to
draw them in from miles away.

An possums!  got 2 last summer.  This morning at 6:00 am I see a LARGE mama possum walking across my yard with a pile of little ones
on top of her.  Sure hope she goes miles away as last year the squirrels and possums raided my apple trees numerous times.  Got 14 squirrels last year and did not dent the population.  

Now rabbits are easy.  Fence the garden off and I am good.  The rest seem to think my yard is the local animal supermarket.

I wish they made a poison besides lead for them. So many around here. Wreak havoc on my corn fields

I had a pet Raccoon that raised on a bottle at first and grew to over 35 because he ate so much.
