Not sure if you guys have seen this yet but Michigan DNR has accused and ticked guide Eric Haataja for fishing walleye of of season. Here's a you-tube video that summarizes the case and incudes some clips directly from Haataja's facebook page where he documented the illegal activity himself.

LOL.  He "won" a tournament.  Ask someone who was there how everyone reacted to that "win" at the awards ceremony.  (In other words, everyone clapped for the other folks who placed, there was no clapping for the "winners".)  Hard to say you "won" when you spot locked over an active pot of fish that 3 other boats were fishing and cut them off.  Many witnessed it.  Even his partner had his head down in shame.  And when Bret knows he's crowding someone or doing something bad, well, then it's REALLY bad.

Yeah, that guys reputation down south was already ruined, and it's quickly becoming the same way up in DC.

Nope.  Not him, and never met the guy.  He got caught and paid his fine.

fishfillet must either be Eric or know Eric to say that nobody cares.

Someone is good at fishing, that means they can target fish that are out of season?

I remember watching the video and thinking to myself that he should get busted. He ended up catching numerous walleyes; some of which were hooked so deep that they were bleeding.

He even had the audacity to say "Now these walleyes are out of season, but we're not targeting them. We are going after smallmouth"

From that point on I've never watched another one of the guy's videos. I don't care if he's good at fishing, HE IS AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A SPORTSMAN.

And to think that he is an example to kids these days. SAD!

My point was he just fished and won a tournament with a lot of anglers. There was no backlash and life is normal.  I don't think anyone cares.  Just sayin.  ?

I think a lot of us care. If you got a dirty guide out there, I would want them exposed for all to see.

I look at it this way, you've got to have some awfully bad luck to get caught your FIRST time. Know what I mean?
