Hello, my wife and I will be visiting friends in the La Crosse area around the 4th of July weekend for about a week or so and are looking for some advice on good places to fish from the shore and what to target given the time of year. We're going to be traveling with an assortment of gear to target a variety of species and sizes. I'm not asking for anyone's secret fishing holes but maybe some advice on places that are a little off the beaten path. Places that aren't really busy with kids enjoying their summer vacation or heavily pressured by other fishing folks.
We spend a lot of our time fishing for rainbow trout but also will target small mouth, large mouth, and striped bass as well as salmon and steelhead.
Our friends aren't really well versed in fishing our outdoors so some help from folks who know the area will be greatly appreciated.
