Any ice in southern Wisconsin?
There will be ice fishing happening next weekend in Madison if not sooner. If this wind dies down someone will be on Monona Bay by Wednesday or Thursday next week. Highs in the single digits and lows below zero will make ice quick if there is no wind. I'm banking on my first day being the 26th.
We got a place in Oneida county MC. Primary house in Burlington. I feel sorry for the snowmobile clubs down south because they go out and mark the trails every year. They usually don’t get much trail time down in these parts. That’s a lot of work every year for how much they get out of it!! Agree with you 100%!,
Climate normals (average highs, lows, etc) are recalculated by the NWS (NOAA) every ten years.
The average temp for early December in Milwaukee is 40 degrees. That is over all time historical data. We talk about the olden days but average temps don't lie. Some years you have a cold year early. Some years you don't, but historical data tells us this year isn't unusual. It isn't until second half of month where temps fall off historically on average, making average overall temp 34 degrees for December. And cold temps are settling in this weekend, which historically based on temps is about as expected.
What a absolute joke.December 15 and ZERO ice entire South half of Wisconsin. Always had ice 50 years as a kid by now, even in far Southern Wisconsin. Getting ready to put snowblower on Ebay and ice fishing gear here in Milwaukee.Just takes up room and is never used. Maybe someone up North can use it.Climate experts predict ice fishing extinct by 2030 in large areas of Northern USA. It's already happening. Doesn't snow either anymore.
One of my Buddies “Vinny“ lived right by where the little bay starts opening up to main lake. Said he caught quite a few real nice pike out of there. He always threw everyone of them back. I’ve been a few times through the years as I grew up in Honey Creek. Still have a lot of lifetime friends that are Lakers.
The bay is shallow For sure.
