Looking to hunt the rivers next season more SW and W part of the state. I usually run 2 dz mallards and some Canada floaters. Want to add to my spread- should I add more mallards, geese, or add some divers for late season?

If so, what’s a good number and what species?

There will be a variety of opinions on this for sure.  Based on what I do and the habitat/locale you said you will be hunting my spread would consist of 6 dozen duck decoys: 18 mallards, 24 bluebills, 12 cans, 6 redheads, 6 goldeneyes and 6 buffs.  I sometimes put out a few goose floaters.

That being said, I have shot a lot of divers over an all puddle duck spread and killed a lot of mallards over an all diver spread.
