2022 Waterfowl Reports

Panks 

Been out two mornings and one evening since duck opener. No luck for me. Missed a goose today.?? Seen good amount of divers around. Not much for mallard.

Hunting on weekends is always interesting.   10 minutes before shooting time began this morning, a pair of duck hunters walked into the stream and set up a bunch of decoys.    

I was downstream around 100 yards.   I flashed my flashlight at them to let them know where I was located.  

Of course, they  shot 30 minutes after the day started.   I was not pleased.

I did end up with one drake wood duck was came in from downstream.

The creek was quiet this week.   All the ducks are wood ducks.   I look forward to bagging some mallards.  

Hit up  SE WI  pond last night near home, had a goose swing in right away ( no shot) and saw 4 ducks and several migrating flocks of geese high up.  Hopefully this cold wind will push some birds around.

Was a pretty decent opener.  I shot a couple, missed more. Highlight was my daughter shooting her first duck. That was priceless 

Went pass shooting today.  Time restraint for me.  Only saw 22 ducks.

Managed a Woodie and mallard.

It has been a slow start to the season, but I did manage to bring home a wood duck 3 out of 3 mornings out.

I did pass on a teal, they are too small.   I have not seen any mallards yet.

Today was a day off.  At it again in am.

DuckDuckGoose-- the sad thing is the skybusters DON'T know who they are.

Worse opener ever fog opening day you couldn't see 20 yards. Today didn't need the head lamp it was so clear. Have tomorrow off think I will stay home with the misses.

It’s great getting out and starting the regular season, was an exciting opening day. 

Now that we all made it through the opener I really hope all the skybusters stay home or find something else to do. You all know who you are, you know what you do, shoot a lot and kill nearly nothing that you can recover.

Those that fit into this group are an embarrassment to the sport, your not hunters, your slobs!

Trio of woodies this morning. Pass shooting gallery. Not enough water to really decoy/hold birds in the waterholes.

  Fine tuned the accuracy a little more. Fine weather. The morning blitz was less than an hour long. 

Only Woodies today.  Had marsh to myself.

Really tough opener in the pool 7 backwaters. Water levels are extremely low.

 Decent amount of local birds around. 1 hen woodie was it for 2 guns this morning. Very pleasant weather. Give it another whirl in the morning. Mostly a pass shoot event with the low water conditions. 

2 guns.  Six Woodies, 3 ringnecks and mallards.   Thank you to the groups that shoot ten minutes early.
