Northern zone - hunted yesterday. Not much flying, but I was the only gig in town....so the few birds I saw wanted in. One redhead passed over the spread...boom...dusted. Then 11 mallards flew over and circled back to the call and put the landing gear down 15 yards out. 3 shots and 4 mallards were on the water. 2 more shots to kill one that was a cripple. Didn't see more than 20 ducks all morning.
Today hunted bigger water and limited out on divers. 3 drake greater scaup, 2 eclipse drake goldeneyes, and a hen black scoter. Nice day to be out.
Good portion of the seasonal migration through the state already. I had a very slow hunt last thurday morning before our carribean vacation currently on. We pulled outta the country at a great time. It was a great october hunt neverless.
Mostly a big water diver hunt time and small pockets of stragler puddler migrators left. Time to get after Mr Whitetail.
