Tons of drumming in Price this spring. Broods were looking good this summer. I think we might be in for a great season. Can not wait.

Saw my first brood of woodcock earlier this year, very cool looking chicks. Been seeing some grouse picking gravel but there is so much cover they hide well until the frost comes. I have hope for a great year. Price county. My dog and I are going to be eating good in the neighborhood. Bought this last night

Tater- I've seen 5-6 different broods of various numbers in eastern Sawyer co. One had 8-10 chicks for sure. the others were hard to tell numbers because they were in the first flying stage. I think they had a pretty good winter and hatch this spring. Numbers should be good.

Aside from the natural cycle and habitat loss, it’s probably the biggest factor.  I’d say definitely the biggest factor in the short term.

If my memory serves right we did not have any ice storms this spring nor any ice crusted snow.  Those can be big factors

Got a report from a neighbor of ours in iron river mi.  He's been seeing multiple broods. He thinks there's a lot of birds this year. Two more months,  let's hope they avoid the predators.
