I have a bunch of 12 ga 3" steel shot in #2 and BB from when I still hunted ducks and geese.  Will either of these loads work for turkeys?  We're hunting in woods so we won't have long shots.  35 yds tops.

Thanks Gimper. The BB are out but the 2's appear OK.

If I were trying to press my luck and stretch a shot, I'd buy some turkey loads but I've hunted these woods before.  35 yards would be a far shot so I think the steel 2's will do.  I have too many to not use them up.  Going to pattern them tomorrow at lunch.  The sportsmens club I belong to is 10 minutes from work.

Is it legal?

Edit: Just checked. Lead no larger than #4 and steel no larger than #2.

Never patterned shot that big for turkey before. 4 shot (lead) has not patterned well for me tho. Only way to find out is patterning.
