I received my first choice...Zone 1, Period B. I hunt a couple large private pieces, so I usually get an early season as I really like hunting the open woods, but don't need to hunt in the snow the first week to avoid hunting pressured birds. Then I usually buy a 4th, 5th or 6th Season tag once the morel mushrooms pop and go look for those and if I strike a bird, I will sit down and work him. The later seasons I don't wake up at 4:00AM. I get out in the woods around 7:30 or 8:00 and get those toms when the hens leave them to go nest shortly after flying down. It works out well. I get to sleep in, help momma get the kids ready, drop them off at daycare and then from 7:00AM to 3:00PM I get to hunt. If the turkeys are quiet, I go back to the truck, grab my rod and vest and go trout fishing for a few hours. Win-Win-Win!

Good luck and be safe this spring guys and gals! I'm hoping to break in my new Winchester SXP I bought at the end of last season.

Budman, take heart-  my experience is that on public land, the first week or two are better due to the birds not having been pressured- but you will have much competition.  I have had much better results personally on private land in the latter periods.  The hens head off to nests and the toms are feeling like "bar time approaches".  If you find one gobbling, chances are he will work.  The year before last I heard a gobble, responded and immediately had 3 longbeards come running in, followed by 3 hens-  that's not supposed to happen, but- BOOM! season over.

Zone 2, Period D and happy about it, I am pretty sure I will not get snowed on!

Sign into your account on Gowild and click on current licenses. It will show turkey eligble if you drew meaning that when you buy a license when they go on sale in March for said permit. If you check your preference points and you have a point for turkey then you didnt draw.

Where do you find your draw status?  I went to GoWild site but couldn't find status of my application.

Well I got period C, which I did not apply for, at all, in zone 3.  Thanks DNR, I guess I'll keep my money and you can keep your tag.
