Anybody use rod floats?   I dropped a rod out of the kayak the other day. After a bunch of screwing around i was able to get it back. I was thinking about zip tying pipe insulation to the rods. i use cheap rods in the kayak just in case.

I made rod floats out of pipe insulation for now.  I keep my cell phone keys and wallet in plastic bags in my vest.

Nope, I haven't tried it, but you could also try using a tether. My wife lost a pricey rod while trying to remove a bass she lost her grip and the fish flops out still hooked and then she fell out and also lost a blue tooth listening device the kind that wrap around your neck.
Water was 10 to 15ft deep. we tried for about 15min and couldn't find either of them about 300$ lost .😔

I'm still not using either of those devices
I'm just waiting for the next time. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞
