The shoulder complex is so important in the kayak stroke and other activities we perform. Here is a video I put together on why you need to avoid this one movement in a multitude of exercises in your workouts, so you don't destroy those shoulders and ruin your kayaking career. I also discuss the movement you should perform instead.

Kayaking is fantastic but can strain your shoulders if you're not careful. I’ve been lifting weights for a while now and learned that protecting your shoulders is critical, especially if you’re into kayaking. One movement I’d suggest avoiding is the overhead shoulder press, particularly with heavy weights. It can put a lot of strain on your shoulders, which might lead to injury.Instead, focus on exercises that strengthen your rotator cuffs, like external rotations and face pulls. These will help keep your shoulders strong and stable without putting them at risk. Also, don’t forget to stretch and warm up properly before hitting the water.
