Hey all! What are the best tips you have for catching perch through the ice? I am trying to re-learn from my childhood. What are the best depths? Time of day? I know minnows are best. Appreciate any advice.

Perch are pretty aggressive fish. On the bodies of water in IL that I fish, I seem to do really well with gold demon spoons for clear water and the Northlands Eyeball spoon in the glow colors (in murky water or dark times of the day) both spoons tipped with waxies or red spikes. I have heard minnows are best, but still do well with the bugs. Perch also seem to be willing to hit soft plastic baits with a really aggressive/fast moving finesse tail on a tungsten jighead.
