this happened 2 weeks ago on a northcentral wisconsin lake I was fishing a weed bed i walked out since i knew it had been warm. I had 8 cars drive up to me asking me how much ice there was. i had 3 to 5 inches of bad ice. all i can say is when they go through im not helping them since its there own stupidity. Why do people drive out and ask people how much ice there is. needless to say a vehicle went through a hour after i left lol

Its funny how they ask how thick the ice is when they're already out there! Thats pointless! And I know where your coming from by not wanting to help but I'm sure if it came down to it anyone would. No one no matter how stupid deserves to drowned obviously. Good luck this year boys! Big Smile

It's humorous. You drive out with a small car like a ford escort and without fail some idiot will pull up and park right beside you with a 3/4 ton dually and ask how thick the ice is. Or you get the parking lot mentality where 15 guys all park right by each other because they assume that if one truck is staying up without breaking through it means that you can park 50 more side by side without any problems.

Every year it seems that people are driving out earlier. I saw them out on 5" this year. All I can say is they are lucky. It may hold a vehicle....until you hit a bad spot. Now with the snow on the ice, there will be bad spots all winter.
