Need some help. Im new to the Madison area. I put a new scope on my deer rifle back in early September. I can not find any public ranges in the Madison area to sight it in.

Anyone know where I can go to sight in a 30-06?

Thanks

Almost hate to bring fame to the place as I sure do enjoy the walk in and shoot freedom it offers (under utilized) but the Dane County Law enforcement range is where I go..

It has ranges out to 110 yds, not 50. Is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9-4, not just deer season sight in...and I think as it gets closer to deer season they are actually open daily. It is truly a nice facility. $10 daily shoot as long as you like. A lot of that is new this year so thought I would clear that up, and yes this is first hand, I shoot there almost every weekend.

North Bristol Sportsmans is another. I believe they have a single spot that goes to 200. Costs $10/hr. may be crowded and God help you if the guy at the bench next to you has a muzzle break cause, in that block house it gets LOOUD.

Try Waterloo Sportsmans club. Only $40.00 a year. Also have a sight in program before deer season. They have a web sight.

Stoughton gun club has public sight in times in November every year up to 100 yards. Some real good guys volunteer out there every year for that.

Dane Co. range is only 50 yards. At least it was the last time I shot there.

Dane county sheriffs range is open this Saturday and Sunday. Highway 19(west) between the interstate and Waunakee. I drove by about 2 hours ago. Sign posted by the driveway.

Dane Co Sheriff dept will offer sighting in at there training facility closer to the season. It's located in Waunakee. Columbus Sportsman Association will also do sight in clinics. Check their website for info. CSA is also a really nice club with a lot to offer should you chose to want to shoot your gun more than just one time before deer season.
