I have been reloading for a while and have the 300WSM ready to go and the 50 cal both groups are touching out to 100 yards (22-250 ready and touching out to 200) but my 308 I have flyers (that is what I call them)

2 shots I am touching out to 100 then the 3rd shot 4 inches left or low but never right.

Loading 150gr Nolser Spitzers with 44.5gr of varget, 44 of IMR 4064 and 40.5 or IMR 4895 and factory loads (Hornady 150gr BTs)

Every single one has they flyer.

I am thinking scope or rifle.....but throwing this out there to see if anyone else has ran into this and what the fix was?

Going to rain and wanted to go with the 308 as it is stainless and my bad weather gun.

Yes I am going to play a lot more. I mainly have the Winchester primers (standard, mag and pistol) but have a few Federal primers for large rifle. Might have to play with that.

Now I need to decide on a all around rifle for out west, moving in 5 years to CO at least that is the plan when my contact/package is up.

DLAMA2, Another thing I often will change is the primer. My 270WSM had a consistently good group, but wasn't quite what I thought it could be. Everything was the same with the exception of Fed gold, WLRM, Standard Fed,...and so on. Gets expensive some times testing all the variables, but sure is fun when it all comes together.

Randy,

You are correct. Switched out brass, went from nickle to regular brass and I am driving tacks again with it. Either the nickle brass was too tight (which I think it was) or too loose. Went back to my Winchester brass.

Strange how one little thing can become a huge issue.

When I encounter flyers as you described, it has usually been a neck tension issue for me. I went to annealing all my brass and very methodical in my step-by-step processes.

LOL ditto....yes.

Never had flyers like this before. This gun was a tack driver, have not used it in about 3 years and broke it back out.

I will double check that Plumwerm.........might be a stupid oversight as I did change bullets the last time I used the die set.

You're shooting <1/2" groups at 200yds with a 22/250 and you're asking us for accuracy tips? I would look at the bedding, specifically barrel to stock contact as it may be changing as the barrel heats up.

I would suggest either scope or mount. You might also check for a head space problem. Run all the rounds with a caliper.
