I just bought my first new muzzle loader. It's a CVA Optima V2. Can any of you guys give me a starting point on a good starting load? I don't want to make it difficult, just something that's going to work out to about 100 yards max. Any info regarding Power belt bullets vs. sabots, Pyrodex pellets vs. White hot & 100 vs. 150 grains would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use 245 grain powebelt copper and 100 grain triple seven pellets in my cva wolf and shoots great. Nice tight group at 100 yards.Took some messing around with different grain of bullets and this is what works for me. You might have to play around with different loads

I re-worked the load for my Hunterbolt Magnum this fall. Threw out the sabots and tried some full-bore lead conicals. The 320 gr. Maxi-Ball over 90 gr. of loose 777 shoots very well out my gun. Start with a loose 777, Blackhorn 209 or Pyrodex powder and try different bullets. Your gun will tell you what it likes.
