Hit the range today with my 16" AR. El Cheapo Ballistic Advantage pencil-thin profile, 1:7" twist rate and NATO chamber fired my home-rolled MK262 ammo (77BTHP). Held the tip of the reticle at 6 o'clock on the 6" bullseye to verify my zero. Had the range to myself, so I could take my time for deliberate shots. Most shots impacted to the right of center, but I won't be moving the reticle on that 3X optic.

Cannot shoot standing anymore, so I plant my butt on a chair and "mimic" standing. 50yds with the 45ACP Carbine. 30 shots is a lot more than I normally shoot

Have yet to attempt the 45 Carbine from a rest at 100yds until today. Have a 50yd zero and wanted to see what the trajectory was (200SWC @ 1162fps). Not good enough for prairie dogs, but would handle those sleeper cell Persians pretty well.

Finally got out to try those lead poly-coated werewolf bullets when it was so nice out. Bench tested 5 @ 25yds with the carbine. Made a slight sight correction left and swung over to 50yds. Fired 5 there, but was having trouble finding that 1" black paster with that 1X prism optic. My eyes were giving me troubles it seems. My mission was really testing out a new RRA 2-stage Varmint trigger. It functions well and breaks clean, but isn't the best for rapid-fire in a defensive situation. Oh well......

Been loading like crazy before the snow leaves. 200gr SWC poly-coated lead booolits for the 45s. 1200rds on a single-stage press takes forever.

First time to the range in a while. Fired 5 shots sitting on a chair as my standing days are behind me. Had clean trigger breaks on the 45ACP carbine and pulled the plug after one pattern.

Went out to the range last week to putz with that 45ACP carbine and my M4. The 45ACP keeps impressing me with its accuracy and how well it functions. However, after about 75rds fired, the barrel on the 45ACP fouled out. Could have thrown a handful of bullets downrange and has a tighter pattern. My sidearm never fouls out using those poly-coated bullets going 850fps. BUT, I found out that they are fouling the barrel on the carbine at 1160fps. I ran a bronze brush each way down the bore 10X and it was like new. Accuracy came right back.

The M4 shot great as always. 1MOA or very close at 100yds using a home-rolled MK262 Mod 1 (77gr BTHP). My budddy has been hunting with it, but has only seen a 14" 8-point at 20yds so far.

Tested a 45ACP carbine this week through the Doplar radar. Worked up a load using the 200gr poly-coated SWC and TiteGroup powder. Worked my load up to the same load that I use in my M&P Shield without pressure signs. 5 shot ave velocity was 1162fps with 10 ES and 5.7 SD. 600ft/lbs of muzzle energy. That equals the grunt of a factory 357 magnum with a 158gr projectile from a 6" barrel. This setup is scary accurate. (2) five-shot groups at 50yds measured just under 1.5 inches.

The carbine has a freefloated 16" barrel,  Rave 140 trigger and a 1X prism optic. Just put the tip of the V right at 6 o'clock on the bull and keep squeezing til the gun goes bang. When dialed in at 50yds, the bullet impacts at 4-5" low at 100yds.

Pike...patch the barrel dry, then liberally apply Sweet's 762 on a patch with a nylon jag (not brass). Leave sit 10min max. Push a patch down the bore. If it comes out blue, patch it dry and repeat the process. Do that until no more blue comes out on that first patch. It is very likely your barrel has fouled out from copper. When barrels get loaded up with copper, elevation strings are common.

Once the first patch after Sweet's 762 comes out clean, flush the 762 out of the barrel with Hoppe's #9, patch it dry and get back to blasting on the range.

12x25 is only 300 rounds down that barrel provided you bought it new. Unless it was a service rifle from ww 1 or 2
I doubt the barrel is shot out. Let someone else shoot a group if its better than yours you might need a trip to the optometrist.

Question for those more knowledgeable than I…..  I shoot a Browning pump BPR 7mm Rem Mag.   Love for whitetail in the woods.    I’ve been using for maybe 25 years , shoot prob 12 rounds or so through it annually between range & woods.   My groups seem to be getting larger .  3” from top to bottom or right left at 100 yards now from a lead sled.  Any ammo.   Over these years I have cleaned with solvent/oil and patch only. Never brass brush.  Barrel fouled or worn maybe ??!!

With my reflex sight reasonably zeroed with 00 Buckshot, I decided to test a few slugs at 30yds. The Rem 7/8oz slug has some pretty good snot and grouped fairly close to the point of aim. Same with the Winchester 1oz slug. Close enough for govt work.

Fired several more shots of the Critical Defense 00 Buckshot. Pleased with the consistency in the pattern.

Winchester SXP Defender, 18" barrel, Cyl bore choke.

The Hornady hits your shoulder far harder than the Federal Tactical, but it does what it's supposed to, every single time.

Fired 7 shots at 30yds and the Hornady Critical Defense 00 Buckshot is da bomb (at least in my Win Defender) YMMV. It worked on every single shot with similar patterns every time. Fired one at 15 yards and it's pretty tight. Not for inside the house unless you like replacing your carpet. Definitely will be ordering some more.

Now I am POd. Spoke to the Federal Tech line about issues I have had with Federal "Law Enforcement Only" 00 Buckshot. Sometimes it patterns great at 30yds...sometimes it doesn't open at all...sometimes only a couple of pellets hit the target. Horribly inconsistent and downright dangerous for any LEO that banks their life on it.

The tech guy at Federal stated "we cannot make ammo to work in all shotguns" Agreed and well-understood. Then he stated "your barrel is too short...we use 28" barrels to test our buckshot" I querried him on that, telling him there is NO law enforcement agency on planet earth that uses anything other than an 18-22" barrel.  I was getting nowhere tralking to this ballistic moron.

The final insult was getting a check for $25 for my returned 7 boxes of Federal Tactical 12 Gauge 2-3/4" 00 Buckshot 8 Pellet 5rds Per Box (LE13300). THREE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS A BOX...?? Price this ssometime, if you can find it. They will be getting a check along with instructions on where to stuff it.

Soooo, I tested Hornady Critical Deffense at 15 & 30yds. Just need to get a proper zero and fire several more at 30yds to ease my mind.
