Tinkertoyed a very lightweight 223/556 for a buddy last evening. Def under 7# without the 3X prism optic. Perfect for guarding his cabbage patch from marauding deer.

Picked up a Winchester Defender to guard the garden. Lightweight with an aluminum alloy receiver because it has a rotating bolt like an AR15 that engages lugs on the barrel. The weak point is the leaf spring that ejects the empty through the ejection port. They tend to fracture with extensive shooting (something I won't be doing). Added a reflex sight for use with buckshot. The receiver is factory drilled/tapped with helicoil inserts because the receiver is aluminum.

Outa line,

I'd vote 20 gauge...I have a .410 and outside of small game at close range, the round is useless! I had a hard time deciding between 12 and 20 gauge for my Teal, but ended up going 12 since it'll primarily be for pheasant hunting and sporting clays. I've killed a PILE of pheasants with a 20 over the years, but nothing kills wild birds like a 12 gauge.

MP - Huge fan of CZ’s entire product line. That looks like a dandy. Got my eye on the Sharptail but can’t decide on .410 or 20 ga.

Bought a browning x bolt speed 300win mag and 30 Banish suppressor.  Trying to figure out what scope to put on it.

Just bought a CZ Teal 12 gauge O/U. I really like it and shoot it very well. First two rounds of trap with it were a pair of 24's. Steel receiver, solid mid-rib, ejectors, 5 chokes and came in a nice hard case with metal hinges and microfiber sleeves for the barrel and receiver. It is a Cabelas/Bass Pro exclusive, but is basically a Redhead Premier with a blued receiver instead of silver. Super nice gun for the money!

In 1973 I bought a new Browning BL-22 lever action for $115 I just looked a new one up today on the Browning site and their going for just south of a $1,000 and the quality of the stock isn’t quite as good. A little disappointed.

Picked up a Stevens 555e sporting, hopefully get out next Friday and try it. Shouldered a couple and ended up back at the Stevens.

Budman, if your looking for a reason to buy a new rifle all good.  Truth be told your 270 will kill any black bear that walks the face of the earth.  They are actually not hard to put down, I've seen many take a dirt nap with the ole 30-30.

I drew my wisconsin bear tag this year and am looking for a 300 or 308 for that hunt.  Biggest caliber rifle I own is 270.. not looking for a top of the line but a solid gun in the southern wisconsin area
Thank u

Budman What are you looking for?

Most all of us have "Safe Queens" that never see the light of day. I have trimmed my collection significantly.

Did have a chance to fire that AR7 recently with some Rem Hi-Speed. As expected, the rifle is no tackdriver. Initially fired it at 15yds and the groups were not very good at all. Bullet impact was 3" left of POA and there is no way to adjust for windage. Seems I will need to have my gunsmith make me up a new sight after I take some measurements and send him a sketch. Not really disappointed though, it went bang.

Is it against code of conduct to ask if anyone would part ways with a particular gun? I'm going to check local gun shops but thought am all here wouldn't hurt.. thank u moderators

G-man thanks for the guidance. I'm not hunting for fur, but wouldn't mind a cool Yote Hat.

I will give the hollow points a try and will practice with some 55 grain FMJ to dial it in.
(60 cents per round at Dunhams)

Thanks again,
Mac
