Anyone using a 6.5 grendel for deer hunting? I have the opportunity to pick one up. Curious what some think of the cartridge for deer hunting.

I’m not looking for caliber recommendations.

Thank you

Granddaughter just got her first deer today with her Savage bolt action 6.5, perfect shoot dropped on the spot.  She was shaking like a leaf afterwards. Her brothers gutted it for her and helped drag it out.

The above is a dedicated Grendel site, lots of info. I have one in an 18” AR upper, just trying things out after I sold my 243 semi-auto. I think it would be fine, FPS with the average 120+/- grain hunting bullet is slower than most 6.5’s, Creedmoor, Swede, 260 REM, & similar.

I often hunt with a simple bolt gun, but the Grendel would be fine for most deer hunting.

If just shorter range it might be overkill.  It was designed to be more for longer range targets .
