Shallower are between Mani and Sheboygan

I'm looking for thoughts on the green area in the pic between Mani & Sheboygan. It's a shallower area (100-130') it looks like. I'm a small boat guy, so if I run that way I'm kind of stuck there in that shallower stuff for the day. Just wondering if anyone had any experience fishing that area. Thanks

I'm not sure where you found that map, but that is not accurate. If you drive out 3.5-4.5 miles you'll be in 100 feet of water, which steadily drops off to 330' feet after that. Salmon and trout are caught in that area all summer long. I fish out of a 17' boat...just watch the weather and you'll be fine.

Keep in mind the green on your map is very large. Best guess its 20 miles by about 15 miles in size. It certainly gets fished. Been skunked in that area more than I would like to admit. Only one way to really find out for yourself. Good luck out there, and be safe.

I grew up fishing out of Manitowoc in smaller boats.  Just have to watch the water temps.  You'll want cold temps near shore, usually the result of a west wind for a few days.  If the water is warm you might struggle.

Spring is always fine for browns along the shoreline.  As soon as you can get a boat in.

I've wondered the same thing. Living in Green Bay I'm within a 45 min. drive to lots of places to fish including Two Rivers but I only fished there once last year. Deeper water is much closer to shore in Algoma and Kewaunee. One map I have shows circulating currents come together and are divided by that shallow zone. There are still people posting occasional info on Reports pages and I was drawn to the idea that the water does warm up earlier in the area for Brown fishing and the chance to see a Coho. Haven't seen a Coho in years out of Alg.-Kewaunee. History is made by those that show up. Give it a shot and post your results of the fish being deep, shallow, or in between. Santa has great posts. We can all learn by his example.
