I’ve been fishing the Great Lakes long enough I should know this, but I don’t. What species is this in the picture? Shows identifying traits of both a large female lake phase brown trout, but also an Atlantic Salmon. The fish is a female, and was caught off Sturgeon Bay WI over 200’ of water on a five color spoon.

Seeforellen Brown Trout.
I would say brown trout
That’s what I thought as well based only on the tail, until the dark gums got me thinking. I don’t remember seeing dark gums on the browns I’ve caught. Also, the dark pectoral fins and upper jaw not extending past the eye are characteristic of an Atlantic. Therefore, I’m stumped.
