Deeper water

This is our first year fishing the big pond from a boat.  We live about 5 minutes from bender so we always launch there because of convenience. It seems like it takes forever to get to deeper water out of bender. After talking with other people it seems Racine, south shore, and McKinley supposedly offer a shorter run to get to deeper water. Just wondering if this is true? Thanks

1 and a half miles out of McKinley on a NE track is roughly 100'.
