I recently purchased some of the hoop net traps for turtles. I am looking for tips on bait and the best way to set them up. I won't be using a boat just along shorelines. Anyone have any experience using these traps. Thanks scooner

We always used chunks of carp. just put them in a plastic jar with holes punched in it to let the scent out, peanut butter jars worked good. I find the traps work best where there is a slight current. place the trap so the hole faces downstream and the turtles will follow the scent right in.

I usually just use whatever fish I catch there. Carp is good cuz it's a little oily but bluegills or whatever works.  I think turtles eat a lot of different things so as long as they find your bait it Should work

I don’t do it any more but use ripe, not rotten chicken necks. Don’t let the bait sit on the bottom, the crabs will get them.    CARPIO
