I decided to give ice camping a try recently with my wife on a remote northern lake. Anyone here have any experience ice camping? Any tips, tricks, recommendations? One major tip that I'd suggest is the foam pieces to cover the ice of the pop up. I was amazed how much insulation they provided and how dry they kept our floor. Here's a vlog of our experience.

Ice Camping

When we winter camped, we used heavy canvas tents as lodges and used small wood burning stoves to heat the tents. We did not camp on the ice, but we did manage to stay warm.
The snow was 4 feet deep, but crusty trails would harden over time. So if one stayed on the trail, one could stay on top.
I have lots of good memories from staying in lodges in the cold winters.
The Penokee hills, near Copper Falls State Park, are unforgiving as Lake Superior, but equally scenic.
