hunting land purchase

first id like to thank my two boys for an early xmas gift today, a browning x bolt medallion in a .308 love ya boys! now, i want to look for a hunting 40 next year and need a little direction as to where i might find decent land that actually holds deer but my budget limits me to about $1700 an acre? i know shawano, waupaca etc is out so maybe northern wis?

are you talking about the crocker hills area on hwy 52 in langlade?

Try Southern Langlade County. Good deer numbers and trophy potential. 1700 to 2000 per acre should be able to be found. Very similar to Shawano and Waupaca terrain.

Just be careful where up north.  I got a really nice 40 surrounded on 3 sides by about 1000 acres of accessible FCL property for $1,625 an acre a few years ago.  Problem is that I hear more wolves than I see deer. This is just south of Eagle River.

You can find land up north for $1700 and under easily.  Landwatch.com should get you an idea
