I fished Shelbyville a few years back and caught a few decent crappie...

I was on Kentucky Lake 2 weeks ago and have never seen such huge crappie in my life! I mean these crappies were sooo big they looked mutated. The locals down there don't look twice at a crappie unless it is 14"+.

Since you have a choice, it's Kentucky Lake hands down !

Shelbyville. Just got a text today from a buddy that lives there and has been catching quite a few moving shallow.

Don't know about Shelby, but on Kentucky, you will be fishing deeper water off ledges as it is all post spawn. It is is big body of water, and like asking about several lakes all at once. One bay to the south can be completely different than one to the north, or on the LBL side.

Gill and Red Ear fishing may be getting hot at that time? Red Ear fishing would be great if timing was right.
