Who's got one ? what are you growing ? and how's it coming along? Mine consists of sweet corn , cabbage , brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli ,cucumbers, zucchini, peas, tomatoes , peppers , acorn squash, pumpkins, and assorted spices. The cold wet weather hasn't been very conducive to good growth so far for me. But with warmer weather in the forecast things should turn out. I hope those of you growing fair better.

Onion plant order is coming two weeks later than I had it come last year. I think the key is getting them in early, but I had a lot of them that bolted due to the three snowstorms we had after I put them in. There were some Giants many bigger than a softball. But as I’ve been doing a research there are some guys that are growing some big ones that are putting in them a lot later so I want to see what it does this year. Been growing giant onions for over 25 years and last year the percentage was just down, but there were some absolute Giants. so I still think early as Keith even with the long day onions. Lots of experimenting to do and excited about trying it this year.
I'm going to try growing some potatoes this year in a few of my grow bags. I have two grow bags, I think, that have access on the sides so it should make harvesting the potatoes real easy. Which kinds will survive warmer temps cause I know those grow bags have warmer soil temps than just in the ground.
When do you plan to plant your onions outside? I have a 5 day process for hardening my veggies. Onions tend to handle the transition pretty well but still need some hardening. I didn't harden last year and it delayed them taking after transplanting but I didn't lose any. Tomatoes and peppers a different story.
I was going to till up a new section next to my garden this weekend and try getting some cold season crops in the ground. But short term forecast has lows in the low 20s every night and I just don't think the plants will handle that on a consistent basis.
I think I finally got this whole sweet potato thing down. Between my 2 potatoes I have 24 slips growing. Last year I don't think I even had 24 slips and I had 6 potatoes going.

I haven't started any seeds except for onions. I'm getting a little eager to get going though so I think I'll start some lettuce and some of my hottest pepper varieties, since those seem to take longer to germinate and grow. Rest of the peppers I'll start early April and most of the tomatoes in mid April. I'll start a few beans indoors the first week of May and transplant them third or fourth week of May, rest will start outdoors. Lots of expansion going on this year. I have more grow bags (slowly replacing the 5 gallon buckets which tend to break down after 4 or 5 years), and two new small garden areas, so lots more room to grow things! Question regarding onions from seed. When should I start "hardening" those off, like now?
