Who's got one ? what are you growing ? and how's it coming along? Mine consists of sweet corn , cabbage , brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli ,cucumbers, zucchini, peas, tomatoes , peppers , acorn squash, pumpkins, and assorted spices. The cold wet weather hasn't been very conducive to good growth so far for me. But with warmer weather in the forecast things should turn out. I hope those of you growing fair better.

Yeah, I have psycho squirrels that dig up plants every year. So I always have 1 backup for each variety. If I don't need them, I give them to family or friends. Also chipmunks like to eat my newly sprouted green beans. I plant twice as much as I need and thin them out.
Threw up some tomato cages for the higher growing varieties today. Sometimes they get 9 ft tall

My problem again is with squirrels. They come up on my patio and dig in the tomato plants. I tried planting flower bulbs but they dug them up and ate them. I do have a squirrel that’s a friend though, some kind of small red one that chases the greys out of the yard and doesn’t dig. It’s really fast and fidgety.
I have a small herb garden on my deck with basil, oregano, thyme, , marjoram and mint. I start most of those from seed but the mint i just buy one plant a year and plant it in that planter, which holds about 7 or 8 gallons of soil in it. Since it cant get a good root system established into the ground, it doesnt survive the winter. I've never had anything come back that lives in there,so I just plant every year! Works for me, plants are cheap!
I plant me mint in 1 or 2 gallon fabric grow bags and buried them even with the soil line. They don't dry out quick and don't needmuch water. After 3 years the roots were still contained. But I dumped them out and started some new plants because them pot turned to all roots. Still have plants coming up every year in the old spot that I pull out right away.
There is good and bad with mint J4I...
It's easy to grow, it comes back every year, but watch out! It will take over your garden! It takes up more garden real estate every year. You have to be vigilant if you don't want it to spread.
The good? You can go through a bunch of mint without too much effort. Cold Mint Tea. Get a large pitcher and fill it full of water and mint, let it chill in the fridge. It's a really nice twist on water!
Your plan for mojitos is solid! You will really enjoy it! You can swap it out for basil anywhere you'd use basil.
Mint ice cubes is a good one to try too.
Of course the old stand by is drying it out and put it in tea bags.
Mint is good, but it grows like dandelions!

Brent - I just planted mint this year, from what I'm told I'll never have to plant it again. They said not to plant it in the garden, but I don't have anywhere else to plant it so I just tucked it in next to the rhubarb.
I got a regular spearmint and then a 'pineapple mint' plant. It actually tasted like pineapple/fruity when I tried it at the greenhouse, so I'm excited for a little different twist on mojitos this summer!

I keep hearing about the weeding people do. I put down 2 to 3 inches of lawn clippings a month ago, no weeding between rows at all. It's also good compost. I do have to weed what comes up right in the rows, but its like 1 hr a month. If you don't bag your grass, maybe there's a neighbor nearby who can contribute. The 2 Heirloom tomatoes are growing so fast, I will have to set up trellis's for them next week
