Who's got one ? what are you growing ? and how's it coming along? Mine consists of sweet corn , cabbage , brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli ,cucumbers, zucchini, peas, tomatoes , peppers , acorn squash, pumpkins, and assorted spices. The cold wet weather hasn't been very conducive to good growth so far for me. But with warmer weather in the forecast things should turn out. I hope those of you growing fair better.

Sorry about those early radishes, Junkie. Those miscommunications with the wimmin, sheesh. Dont get me started.
Igor- plant those radishes as early as possible, they can't stand heat. Mixing some sand in to make the dirt loamy also helps. Also, I put 13-13-13 fertilizer on to promote root growth

Igor - too high of nitrogen in your soil is generally the cause of good green growth but no bulb. Supplement with a high phosphorous fertilizer to help with bulb growth.
I'm jealous JB - my wife did our initial planting of radishes, lettuce, spinach and weeds took over the lettuce/spinach. I had her till up those patches but we miscommunicated and she tilled up the radishes too. So my first planting still has a week or so to go and with these temps, I don't think I'll get a second planting this year. Radishes are hands down my favorite too!

Yup, the stuff I use to tie my tomatoes is a stretchable plastic kind of stuff. Some of it I leave on my tomato cages and use it year after year until it's too small or it no longer stretches. Over time the stuff gets hard due to weathering. But I do love the stuff because you can tie it pretty tight to the tomato and as it grows the stuff will stretch and not hurt the plant.
First planting of corn sprouted and was looking great last week, close to 4" tall already. And then the concrete truck didn't listen to our instructions and backed over my corn patch, and almost over my tomatoes as well. Then proceeded to pull forward/back a few more times. Needless to say I need to replant and re-till the patch as all that weight completely compacted my soil. Annoying!
So yesterday I got my tomatoes, peppers both green and jalaponeos, green beans, cucumbers and acorn squash. Got cages around the tomatoes tonight when I watered them. Garden is pretty much planted now except for a few small things I need to find room for.
Last year was the 1st and I really don't see steering away from them in the future. They're special, I hear ya! Sweet as can be and they just keep cranking out! Divas are 2nd to em imo, but I'm nostalgic like 👍 Both steer up a cage well and save space too! No straight 8s this year...called it on those giants.
