Who's got one ? what are you growing ? and how's it coming along? Mine consists of sweet corn , cabbage , brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli ,cucumbers, zucchini, peas, tomatoes , peppers , acorn squash, pumpkins, and assorted spices. The cold wet weather hasn't been very conducive to good growth so far for me. But with warmer weather in the forecast things should turn out. I hope those of you growing fair better.

If you look closely that’s not plastic that I’m using to shield my plants but a 5’ X 3’ mesh bag with about 1/4” mesh that fits over the plant to protect it from hail, sun, etc.    It does a great job for about a buck apiece at Amazon.

This is the 1st determinate tomato I've ever grown. It's called Celebrity, and it's planted in a grow bag.🫡🇺🇸

Would really think the clear plastic could act as a magnifying glass in the sun. Hate to see your beauties get fried, Carpio. I know, you've been down this road, keep fighting the good fight

Carp, I would think the plastic around the plants would cause a negative affect.... With the summer heat and humidity.
I remember one time I was power washing the house and covered the plants with plastic. It was only for a few hours. Nearly wiped them out. All wilted , they looked deathly after being covered.

Tomatoes 6' high by the fourth of July.
Carpio, If you could put your buckets in a tray and fill it with water it could wick up enough water to keep them from drying out so fast.

I had the same rabbit problem. FISHLM. Went to 2 inch spaced metal fencing 30 inch high. No problems from rabbits since. Had a deer last year that came a few times tho. Had to use deer repellant

lol.   Thanks loads!    I can’t lift them to add pans of water because they are all interconnected to keep from tipping over during storms and am too lazy to disconnect everything and start over.     That’s why I plant more than we need , to allow losses from BR.

I'm just happy to see people contribute BER to the actual reason it happens, inconsistent watering. You made my day Carpio!

If the bottom of your buckets have holes, you could set them in a pan of water so they suck water from the bottom up as they need it.

This heat is raising havoc with my tomatoes.   It’s hard to keep them from wilting even though I give them a 1/2 gallon water every 2 hours the mix gets dry, even with 2” of mulch.      With these hot conditions I expect a bumper crop of bottom rot tomatoes due to uneven watering.    I partially cover them up with these bags from 9 AM- 1 PM but the windy conditions still dry them out.
